THE MINISTER OF HOUSING, UTILITIES AND URBAN COMMUNITIES INAUGURATES THE BIG 5 CONSTRUCT EGYPT 2019
The Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Eng. Assem Abdul Hamid Al-Gazzar, officially inaugurated the second edition of The Big 5 Construct Egypt at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC) today.
Held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, The Big 5 Construct Egypt is Egypt’s largest construction event, and runs until September 4, providing a professional platform to foster industry best practices, business and investment opportunities in Egypt.
His Excellency Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar, Minister of Housing started his opening speech by praising the organization, saying that such exhibitions are linked to the efforts of the State and the Ministry in the current period. Also, he asserted that the government is undertaking a very large development process at the national level within the framework of Egypt’s Strategic National plan for urban development 2052, which was prepared in line with Egypt’s sustainable development strategy 2030.
The aim is to double the current urban area to reach 14% through a number of development axes represented by a national road network currently being implemented, as well as the new cities which have been recently launched. Dr. Assem ended his speech by insisting that the Ministry will keep supporting such exhibitions in the coming years, as the construction sector is currently witnessing a rapid growth, in addition to its contribution in raising the development index of the industrial sectors behind it, which represents the development engine for many interlocking industries.
The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2019 gathers 240 Egyptian and international companies and their innovative construction products, materials and solutions from over 300 brands, and is expected to welcome more than 13,000 visiting industry professionals.
Roni El Haddad, Event Director at dmg events, said:
“We are extremely proud to support the expanding requirements of the booming Egyptian construction and infrastructure sectors, serving Egypt’s strategic development objectives and its Vision 2030. To this end, this year we are launching the new Hosted Buyers Program to further promote international business in Egypt, with senior executives from selected countries joining the show to meet with participating exhibitors.”
Camille Hatefeuille, the Trade Officer for Industry and Cleantech at the French Embassy in Cairo, commented: “Business France, the trade office of the French Embassy in Cairo, is taking part for the first time this year in The Big 5 trade show in Egypt and hopes its participation in the event will be a success, allowing it to engage in the next editions and, over the years, increase the size of the French booth.”
Beyond meeting with hundreds of suppliers of construction products, visitors at the show can also benefit from over 55 CPD-certified educational sessions. These are offered for free and presented by leading industry experts, including companies like Egypt Green Building Council, Orascom, Palm Hills Development, and Khatib & Alami. For the first time, BIM Breakout Seminars, certified by Autodesk, and dedicated seminars on HVACR & MEP, and Concrete, are also taking place at the event.
ACG-ITF President Ahmed Ghozi said that the participation in organizing The Big 5 Construct Egypt this year comes as part of a series of successful partnerships with major international exhibition organizers, such as dmg events. “Our first partnership event was EGYPS in its first edition back in 2017; the event was a great success and the opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by His Excellency, President Abdel Fattah ElSisi. EGYPS has grown successfully year after year, motivating our partners at dmg events to work with us on more events, including The Big 5 Construct Egypt, which we aim to develop as the biggest event in Africa to serve the construction sector by 2020.”
Organized by dmg events, The Big 5 Construct Egypt, runs from 2 to 4 September at the Egyptian International Exhibition Centre (EIEC). The event is sponsored by Sphinx Glass, and supported by the Egyptian Federation for Construction & Building Contractors – EFCBC, QMEA – Quali Middle East Association, MEFMA, the World Architecture Community, Dubai Exports, and AHK – German-Arab Chamber of Industry & Commerce.
