The Big 5 Construct Egypt will host Ahmed Esmat Khashaba, Project Controls System Manager at Hill International, as one of the event's speakers this year. Titled "Risk Management; Threats & Opportunities", his CPD-certified educational session will focus on:

  • Meaning of Risk
  • Risk Management Processes
  • Response Plans for Threats & Opportunities

Here's what he told us ahead of the event:

What is construction risk management?

There are many different areas where risk can occur within a construction project. It’s not just limited to safety. There are other types of risks that can succeed or fail the project such as financial, contractual, stakeholder, environmental, personnel, and competitive.
Knowing where risk might come from, knowing the different categories of risk, is it threat or opportunity, and knowing how to plan to respond in a timely manner, is called construction risk management.

How do you develop a risk management plan?

According to PMI, Project Management Institute, there are six steps to develop a risk management plan: plan, identify, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, plan response and monitor risk.

What are the drawbacks of not having a risk management plan?

Not having risk management or poor risk management has the ability to severely impact your business. Whether that’s through a delay to project benefits impacting your revenue and profit streams, or unrealized benefits, overspent budgets, late-running project, client's dissatisfaction, reputational damage or project failure. Poor risk management is something you can’t afford.

Who should attend your presentation at The Big 5 Construct Egypt?

Project Managers, Program Managers, Portfolio Manager, Contract Managers, Business Analysts, Planners & Schedulers, Cost Engineers, Risk Managers PM Academic Institution Lecturers and PM students.

How will they benefit from your presentation?

It enables them to tackle all necessary action to protect their project.

Why is Egypt the best place for construction trade fairs to be held?

The construction sector in Egypt is experiencing the best of times as the government has placed the sector at the heart of its economic agenda, ensuring that there will be plenty of contracts available in the foreseeable future.
