Watera Hellas S.A. will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2019. We spoke to the company's Commercial Director, International Division, Michael Metaxas; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate in the largest construction event in Egypt.

What products will you be showcasing at the event?

Watera will be presenting innovative, cost-efficient, robust technologies, products, systems and solutions. These include filtration, reverse osmosis–desalination, ultra-filtration, electrodeionization, and water recycling for the industry but also for drinking water. Also, we will present our long term experience in containerised units with water treatment systems that can be accessed and monitored from a distance, for easy operation and maintenance.

What value do these products bring to Egypt’s construction industry?

Clean, fresh water is not only essential for human life: water available from nature is rarely suitable for drinking or for meeting the various demanding needs of the industrial sector. Treating water and making it suitable for specific uses and applications is a critical requirement in every country’s economy. No matter what the origin of the raw water, Watera is in a position to offer to Egypt’s construction industry effective and efficient water treatment systems for producing clean, safe, drinking water for municipalities, hotels & resorts, residential developments, construction camps, etc.

What are the major challenges in the sector?

Challenges in water treatment result from the different origin of available water in each and every case. Therefore, the solution offered in each case is individually custom-designed in order to successfully address the specific water treatment requirements while at the same time applying the most advanced technologies and processes in water treatment.

What are the latest solutions to overcome these challenges?

Advanced design methods and tools applied by Watera’s design team, in combination with its more than 50-year experience in water treatment, allow for fast and effective development of the most cost efficient and effective solution in each case. At the same time, the operating cost of a water treatment unit is now significantly lowered compared to the past, while in sea water applications, the new generation of energy recovery devices allow for significant energy savings.
Watera has also focused on providing containerised water treatment systems that allow for the shortest “time to operation” possible, and are the best solution for emergency as well as for temporary installations (construction camps, refugee camps etc.) as well as for permanent installations where cost and ease of installation are important.  Also, an additional advantage is that such plants can be fully tested at the factory while the tests can be witnessed by the customers who at the same time can become acquainted with the equipment they will run in their place.
Last but not least, Watera’s systems’ automation allows for distant monitoring and control of a water treatment plant. The plant’s performance is evaluated on daily basis - in some cases by means of a normalisation software - and if needed instructions are communicated to the local operators for taking preventive actions.
