60 seconds with Momen Adel, Country Manager, Dow Egypt

The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 Construct Egypt this September. We spoke to the Country Manager, Momen Adel; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to Egypt's largest construction event - The Big 5 Construct Egypt.

What are the major opportunities you spot in Egypt’s construction industry?

Over the last few years, we have seen substantial development across Egypt with several key projects being announced by the government within different sectors. Egypt is experiencing a resurgence specifically in its construction and infrastructure sector owing to the government’s Egypt Vision 2030. For Dow, infrastructure is a key area of opportunity in Egypt and this is where we expect to be very active in the immediate future. A big area of growth is the insulation of buildings to enhance the energy efficiency and protection against fire. Dow’s solutions for thermal insulation caters to the changing needs of the building industry, which are driving demand for construction materials that contribute to the energy efficiency of buildings, help reduce their carbon footprints, and meet more stringent fire performance regulations. The demand for insulation also extends to the infrastructure and industrial sectors like Oil & Gas where we see a growing demand for pipeline insulation.
We are seeing a growing interest in our solutions and technologies which cater to these sectors, and through our offerings, we are committed to partnering with key public and private sector stakeholders to contribute to the fulfilment of the government’s vision.

What do you think are the major growth drivers for the industry?

With the Egyptian economy undergoing transformation, there are multiple factors which are contributing to the growth of the country. A key growth driver are megaprojects taking shape in Egypt over the coming years, namely the new administrative capital, the new El Alamein City, the renovation of the parliament buildings and the Grand Egyptian Museum. We can already see these megaprojects boosting the economy through the large-scale investment in infrastructure as well as their contribution towards increasing employment opportunities in the country.
Rise of consumerism is another growth driver in Egypt. This requires an update of Egypt’s logistics and road networks to transport goods e.g. food, across the country to meet consumer needs.

What makes your products stand out?

Dow established its operations in Egypt in the late 90’s by setting up the first local polyurethane Systems House in the 10th of Ramadan City, in Greater Cairo. Polyurethane represents a key component of the Egyptian industrial sector, specifically in the production of refrigerators, heaters, cars, thermal roof insulation, furniture, shoes and thermally insulated pipes among others. Dow solutions for thermal insulation have also been utilized in a number of high-profile projects in Egypt such as the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Egyptian Parliament building renovations. Our intimate knowledge of Egypt’s market spanning over four decades coupled with our world-class technologies makes Dow uniquely positioned to help meet Egypt’s construction needs.

Why are you exhibiting at The Big 5 Construct Egypt?
